Finishing the new LP at Fluid Mastering

Mastering an art…

It’s done! The new Hit By A Rock LP was mastered yesterday by Nick Watson at West London’s Fluid Mastering.

After what seems like months of mixing, tweaking and remixing, I finally ran off my final mixes the day before the session was booked. Talk about cutting it fine! There’s that old quote about art being abandoned and never really finished; it was a bit like that. There’s always more you can do. So it was great to be “done”, and finally hand it on to somebody else, before I went completely doolally.

Fluid Mastering was very comfortable, nice people and full of gear that audio-geeks like me can only dream about (you can see a few photos in the gallery). Amazing-sounding speakers. Just what you want, really.

Engineer/co-owner Nick Watson did a blinding job, fixing any frequency issues, sweetening it all with a bit of magic, and finally making it all sound louder without crushing it like a ham sandwich stuck beneath one of Metallica’s money chests! đŸ˜‰

All in all, I’m double-pleased. LP coming soon on Other Sounds.
